Moving Progress.....

I hate moving and I will never move again!!! We feel like we are CONSTANTLY on the phone between hotels, credit card companies, airlines, consulates, relocation coordinators, human resources – you name it, we’ve talked to them. Some are nice, some not so nice. I consider myself a pretty even tempered person, but when Lufthansa tried to tell me they were going to charge me $100 to change my last name from Rausch to Wieland on my airline ticket – I lost it. Supervisors were involved and ultimately the $100 fee was waived…(hmmmpf). As busy as I am trying to tie up loose ends, Shaun is even more swamped with paperwork and manual labor (we’re renting our house while we are away) to get us ready for the move.

Our calendar is filling up by the second…I realize now how soon we’re leaving! In an effort to relax and give ourselves a break from all of the pre-move stress, Shaun and I went to an Orioles game last Saturday night. Going to O’s games has been one of our favorite things to do as city dwellers. We love grabbing sushi at cross street and then walking over to the games. Unfortunately the O’s lost, but the weather was beautiful – great night for a game!

We now know we’ll be staying at the Contel-Mainz hotel when we first arrive in Germany. Here is a link: http://www.mzen.contel-group.de/index.php. We will remain at the hotel until we are able to rent an apartment – which will hopefully only take a few weeks. We’re hoping to live in Mainz (approx. 25 minutes from Frankfurt) and we hope the rental market will cooperate with us. Time will tell!
