Beer Festival

Saturday evening we went to our first beer festival/fair, or "Biersorten," in Germany. The festival was directly along the Rhine River in the town of Mainz and was the equivalent of an outdoor beer hall (this is our warm up for Oktoberfest!). There were a ton of beer stands to purchase different beers as well as a lot of international food. Thumbs up on the crepes. To top it off there was a live band that played music and, at one point, they even sang a John Denver tune - random right? We're learning that the Germans love American music! We took Kooper along with us and it is true what they say, the Germans love their dogs. People kept feeding her as we walked along - she has had more sausage and wurst than we have since arriving. It was a fun evening and a great chance to experience our first festival.

Sunday afternoon we took a drive along the Rhine and saw the German countryside. We were so surprised by how green everything is in Germany. It was a beautiful drive and we're looking forward to seeing more next weekend.

From my two weeks in Germany, I remember the Rhine running through every town in the entire country. Or, every river is named the Rhine, not sure which. Enjoy!!
