The past week was an exciting one as my sister Natalie and her two friends, Michael and Mel, came to stay with us for a week. The girls arrived on Wednesday and we spent the day touring around Frankfurt (primarily - shopping), Thurs-Friday they went to Munich, Saturday the girls, Shaun and I headed to Rothenburg (a small medieval town in Germany) and then on Sunday we headed to Heidelberg. We celebrated Shaun's birthday while in Rothenburg. First we went on the Night Watchman's tour of the town in the dark. The tour was our favorite tour we've done in Europe, primarily b/c it was funny! Next we headed to a restaurant called Hölle (Hell). We ordered some delicious desserts and drinks and rang in Shaun's 28th year.
house was a bit Victorian..and there were definitely points where I thought Laura Ashley herself was trying to strangle
me! But the house was perfect for all of us to stay together. Another high point of our visit in Rothenburg was trying the local specialty- the schneeball. I am not sure how to describe a schneeball..other than to say each ball is about the size of a softball and is essentially deep fried dough. The ball itself is quite crunchy and rivals a pie crust consistency. We also enjoyed visiting the Medieval Crime and Punishment Museum...back then they certainly did not mess around!

On Sunday we headed to Heidelberg for a look at a rather unimpressive castle. The salvation of the day was definitely an awesome lunch on the Haupt Strasse, including the best hot chocolate I've probably ever had! We had a great visit..full of delicious food and good company. Thanks for coming to visit girls.
