1. Sleeping, or lack thereof. I can't make it more than 3-4 hours at a time without waking up. I'm usually awoken because my garbanzo bean-sized bladder has decided it is time to get up...or I am on my back or right side. I'm supposed to sleep on my left side b/c it increases the blood flow to the baby...but I hate it! As a confirmed stomach sleeper...I just can't get comfortable. I've been using a body pillow which helps some. A couple of times Shaun has woken me up in the middle of the night (very scary proposition for him) to ask if I can move over so he can have more than 6 inches of the bed. Turns out I'm a bit of a wiggle worm because I can't get comfortable.
2. Breathing. Yes, one of those other vital functions our body does for us! I can't breathe! The baby is pushing on my diaphragm which makes it almost impossible to be comfortable while sitting down no matter how straight I sit. I also run out of breath pretty quick when I'm talking really fast...which is pretty much how I talk all the time.
A third gripe has been heartburn. I am rating this as #3 because, unlike the other two, this only bothers me a couple of days a week. I've never had heartburn before and now that I have experienced it I must say that I am not a fan. I would also like to throw in a plug for berry flavored TUMS - without them I don't know what I would do!
# 4 on my list - my belly button. Belly buttons are so weird to begin with. They creep me out about as much as elbow skin does. But to have your belly button turn into an outtie is just weird and just not right!! Again, lower on my list since this is purely cosmetic.
Baby Rausch's crib and changing table have arrived (a huge thank you again to Kurt and Carrie for assisting us with getting the furniture to our place!!). I would love to post a picture, but they are still in boxes in the living room. We have been quite busy over the past month and will be busy over the next few weeks with Oktoberfest and guests in town. We hope that in late October we'll have time to put everything together and paint. By then the weather will be cooler and we'll be stuck inside for good!
Ok, enough about us. Baby Rausch has been pretty active this month - I definitely think she is getting stronger given the strength of the wallups she occasionally delivers. We have had another ultrasound and everything continues to look good and the news sounds positive for which we are very thankful. At the most recent appointment it looked like she was sucking on her fist..ha. We also registered for some pre-natal classes beginning in November so we are really looking forward to that. We're excited because the classes are in English and we're hoping to meet other expectant parents in the area. I'm particularly interested in meeting some of the moms and hope to make some friends to hang out with during my maternity leave. 13 weeks to go (assuming on time arrival).......
