Queen's Day (Koninginnedag) - April 30, 2008

Queen's day is an annual holiday to celebrate the Queen's birthday in the Netherlands. We took a trip to Amsterdam to see what all the fuss was about. Basically, thousands of people dressed in orange (Queen's color) rent boats and boat around the canals all the while enjoying music, food, and of course some tasty beverages. It was a blast! Our skipper was named Benji and he took us wherever we wanted to go - which included some unintentional dead ends in the canals. The boat made frequent stops so we were able to walk around the crowded streets and allow some members of our group to disembark and others to climb aboard! It was a great day and we were glad to make the trip up to see the spectacle for ourselves!

It looks like an orange St. Patty's day, with boats. How fun!
